Welcome to the Metropolis Video Store

Be sure to check back here at the Metropolis Video Store to see how you can connect with us on Facebook and Twitter in the future.

Why we do what we do:

The Metropolis Video Store's webmaster, Anthony Wayne Conn, is a comic book historian and enthusiast whose geek-cred stretches back over three decades.  He's written film and DVD reviews for several genre-related websites, and has collected and read funnybooks since the ripe old age of five, circa 1979.  He fell in love with the Fleischer Bros./Famous Studios Superman animated shorts of the 1940s after he discovered them during his teen years, through Gary Grossman's book, Superman: Serial to Cereal and the numerous VHS releases manufactured by distributors who capitialized on the fact that the shorts exist in the public domain rights and licensing-wise, a practice that continues to this day in the DVD format.

The Metropolis Video Store is an effort to preserve this viewing experience, specifically the VHS viewing experience, which for nearly two decades was practically the only way one could be exposed to these classic cartoons. We have a large collection of these cheap VHS format releases, and plan on archiving and sharing box art scans, and if possible in the near future, make available for download digital video files of the contents of said tapes.

Any feedback or comments are welcome.  Feel free to contact the site via e-mail at metropolisvideo@live.com
